Mobile solutions

Mobile device technology and advanced software, together with the influence of the Internet, are creating a vast array of Web-based services to which people want easy, 24-hour access from wherever they happen to be.

Microprocessors are rapidly becoming smaller, faster, more power-efficient and less expensive, which means they will be used more often, in more places to create a host of intelligent devices that will increase access to those services. In the same time, wired and wireless bandwidth is expanding at a rapid rate, providing the final component necessary to create "universal connectivity" among all of those new devices and the instant availability of the information and services they help to deliver.

Two ranges of application can be considered:

• Mobile devices can be used as a tool for developing a multi-device platform that helps accessing existing information and services regardless of the (wireless) client devices (Pocket PCs, Handheld PCs, phones…). Mobile devices enable an organization to take its traditional computing infrastructure and extend it to the furthest reaches of its business, to its mobile work force. Current calendar, contacts, tasks and e-mail are available wherever users are.
  
• Mobile devices can be used as a tool for supporting business that by nature require the possibility to capture and manipulate data from wherever it happen to be. Forms-based applications on mobile devices can result in significant improvements to a business. As data is captured at the point of origin in a digital, electronic form, the accuracy of that data increases and the business reporting time is reduced.

As a natural extension to the Web UNIWAY has developed expertise in building mobile applications that work either on-line through a wireless connection or off-line with data synchronization mechanisms.
